Our scope in the construction of buildings are mainly in superstructure works or above ground. The types of buildings we handle include residential, commercial, industrial, leisure, institutional and public amenity buildings.
Of the many buildings we have completed, the most recent one was the Police Training Centre in Mukim Abang, Majlis Perbandaran Dungun, Terengganu. It was a sub-contract worth RM112 million. The most unique building we designed and completed was a hangar with a 3-storey workshop and other facilities in Subang.
Piling work
Piles or support columns are an essential element in construction. They form part of the foundation for above ground structures as well as below ground. Piles are driven deep into the soil to give buildings a solid base and frame. As specialists in bore piling and micro piling, we are able to design the most suitable piles and execute piling for all types of infrastructure. We have had decades of experience in this area. Among the most recent projects are the piling work for the 20-floor Promenade Residence in Ampang, KL, and for the pillars of LRT 3 in Bandar Bukit Tinggi, Selangor.
Construction of retaining walls
In conditions where there is vertical ground, retaining walls are sometimes critical to maintaining the structural integrity of the ground and building. Retaining walls provide lateral support for slopes containing soil, rock or other materials to ensure these slopes do not collapse.
Construction of basements
Our expertise includes the construction of basements which entail excavating soil to various depths. In doing so, retaining walls are required to prevent the surrounding soil from collapsing into the excavated area. Basements are now a common feature of many buildings, and form a part of piling and foundation works. A few of the many projects we have completed for this area include the multi-storey basements of Promenade Residences and Lot 155 on Jalan Ampang, KL.
A bridge is considered a superstructure. It can consist of the bridge deck (roadway or railway), structural members and other parts including railings, lighting, footpaths and drainage. Aside from this superstructure, we are also experienced in substructure works or the building of bridge foundations. The substructure of a bridge comprises abutments or end-bents, piers or interior bents, footings and pilings. The most recent completed bridge project is the upgrade of 3 bridges along Sungai Pendang in Kedah.
Flood mitigation includes upstream and downstream works on the river affected by floods, as well as the construction of storm tunnels and related structures. Our most recent and fourth involvement in this area is the Sungai Pendang project in Kedah. The Sg Pendang flood mitigation project entails upstream works, upgrading of a section of Sg Choras/Sg Sala and upgrading 3 affected bridges. The value of the tender contract is almost RM108 million. Our 3 prior involvements in flood mitigation involved designing and constructing storm tunnels as well as SMART intake structure in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.
A prefabricated building system is a construction process where parts of the building are made off-site then installed on-site. We manufacture as well as install prefabricated building systems. The manufacturing aspect is handled by our subsidiary, MM2 Building System, which has a manufacturing plant in Nilai.
The venture into prefabricated building systems began in 2012. The latest use of our system was for the Pulau Redang low cost apartments. The project consisted of 5-storey buildings on the island. Our Industrialised Building System was ideal for this project, as it enabled the transport of large construction components across the sea and other difficult terrain.
